Social Media vs. Marketing

The advancement in social media over these past few years has been nothing short of sensational.

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc. and whilst there is no doubt that these tools have a key, and ever increasing, role in marking your product or service, they are not a substitute for a marketing strategy.

Without knowing your market in terms of geography, gender etc. your message, irrespective of social media, is less likely to reach your target.

My message is that you still need a clear marketing strategy, and this is particularly relevant given the recent advent of proclaimed social media/marking experts.  I advise you to identify the following before you push ahead with your social media efforts if you want to maximize the impact of using these great tools.

  1. Identify your value proposition (something I’ve covered previously in several articles).
  2. Identify your target market: geography, demographics etc.
  3. Construct a clear, concise and compelling message.

With the above in place, work with you social media expert to determine which of the social media tools is most appropriate for you to reach your business goals.

Good look with your social media efforts.

Should you need assistance to develop a clear and concise marking plan for your business, you should contact “121″.  We have the experience, proven methodologies and tools; we care and we are there to help you.
